I find voice activated not good as the cut out after a few seconds and u miss bits.

Better to have a couple of decent USB sticks which u leave recording for 12 hrs at a time / up to. Start early morning and swap early evenjng.

The check through audacity. Takes 5 mins once u are used to it. V easy way to check

I think so too... would also refrain from voice-activated recorders in order to avoid loosing important parts... USB recorders are soo cheap and large in capacity of data storage that I would always prefer those...

you can get cheap ones which are made to hear from longer distances eg 20metres. ie more sensitive; that may belp too as there is a wall in the way. I have one of these - 20GBP
16GB Mini USB Memory Stick Digital Voice Recorder Dictaphone Aluminium Alloy-with Free Caring Boxes- Flash Drive Voice Sound Record

And it was worth it. But I'll let you decide when I upload today's episode.

Awesome recorder, Onlooker. The description makes it appear the three microphones work in unison to create a "shotgun" effect for distance. I'd put an optional SD Card in it and the best batteries I could find. Way to go!

Today's Episode 7
I was unsure what was going on the last few days. It was so quiet. But today made up for it. What is your opinion on the new recorder? There has been no cleaning or work on the file apart from clipping. Please let me know what you think.

You can't change the batteries but the ones inside are extremely good. But I have added a 32GB SD.
It also has a timer so you can start and end a recording in a set period.

Very great recording, very authentic, sweet and clear, I think the investment is a good one :-)

Was this recorded from the floor again (and not through the wall), right?

Through the wall. No additional mic other than the one in the recorder.
