Community of Sexsoundlovers

Hello everybody,
a few months ago I moved to a new block of flats with 20 apartments - two flats with 10 apartments each, my apartment is in the first floor on the very corner of the building.
The bedroom faces the street and on the opposite of the street there are also houses and apartments.
Two days ago was the first night where I could leave the window a little bit open and around 0.30h I heard the sounds we love so much.
I had no idea where it could come from - was it from the opposite of the street?
Or was it from the block of flats where I'm living in?
The next day (yesterday at the point of writing) I placed my USB recorder outside the window and bingo!
At around 23h the same couple was going at it again.
Here is a sample of the recording: I doubt the sounds came from the apartmant above mine as I couldn't witness any noise from there at all, also it sounds like that the source is somewhere far away.
I would like to get the recorder closer to the source, do you have any suggestions where I should start?

The do make equipment to aid in sound localization but probably pricey and not readily available.

I would probably get a portable shotgun microphone setup and do some walking around outside when the sounds begin to try and locate the source. If the sound origin windows are closed that can make things more difficult. Your brain is probably the best sound localization tool but you need to get more data (i.e. walking around when the sounds begin) to be able to pinpoint the origin.
