I need to buy a new recorder since my main one is broken. it randomly stops recording

I am looking for a recorder that can cancel out echo since the recorder is likely to be in a metal box when capturing sounds. I need it to capture neighbors in the same apartment complex. I am not too fussed on the size of it either, just as long it doesnt make sounds while it is recording
