You may not know that I am not only a soundlover if it comes to hotel rooms but that I am also interested in long-time nature recordings (bird voices and such). That is why I am seriously thinking about buying a gadget like this one: http://www.ts-market.com/products/?acti ... 3&prodId=2
You will notice a price list which first made me believe I would by a serious amount of the manufacturer's shares but this turned out to be a wrong conclusion.
My questions:
What do you think about the technical specifications and the suitability for the (described) purpose?
Is there anybody else who might find these worth buying (buying 3 or 4 items might make them cheaper)?
Futheas, you know I know. I fully agree with the rules.
It is not just bird voices that I'm interested in but the sounds of nature at night. Have you ever listened to the nocturnal soundtrack of a forest for example?
Had a security set up for a job in Wyoming several years ago. It was energy exploration and one of the financial partners was concerned with Eco-Terrorism -- no violence but some of the groups could really do a number on expensive construction equipment.
We had dusk to dawn, audio and video of the perimeter - two week loop. Never had any problem with vandalism but had some amazing audio of owls - we had three of them, could never see them and didn't make any sense to adjust the cameras - but the audio --- call, response -- one of the managers named them Tom, Dick and Harry - they chatted every night for the 6 weeks we were up there.
Hardware -- Were you thinking of a mix -- omnidirectional mic's will give you the truest audio picture but a cardiod (sp) will allow you to focus if you have a target. Coyote aren't unknown around here, I know one of the nature groups has a set up a the edge of a large mine -- picks great audio in a 40 degree arc.
