Hey Gang, Im new here but I am along time 'Listener". I was wondering if using a Doctor stephascope or a mechanics stephascope, you would be able to hear very clearly through the walls. I have very sexy neighbours--but want to hear more clearly....anybody?

I've tried to use a Mechanic's stethascope...
it hurt my ears - I was able, however, to hear more clearly than with a upside down glass against the wall....
A wall contact microphone is designed for that purpose and with an amplifier and recorder - you can tape the sounds and share them with us...
on the cheap, you might look for an "acoustic leak detector" - similiar item but less expensive.

doctor's stethascopes are designed to listen to a sound source close to the bell (the bit you put on the patient) i.e. the heart and to minimise noise from further away, so I don't think it would work very well.
