Wall listening device

Has anyone tried one of these the Wall listening devices, shown here on amazon.co.uk https://www.amazon.co.uk/Listening-Devi ... 617&sr=8-1 ?

In fact a quick Google will show a number of Hong Kong based companies selling them for about £20 rather than the £30 on Amazon or £40 elsewhere....

Thanks,

Can't say I've ever tried one of these. From some admitedly slapdash research, the market seemed to be littered with tacky toy-like crap on Ebay, then hugely expensive "pro" stuff that still didn't really float my boat on paper. That uncertainty combined with talking to a few people here meant I always just went with a decent condenser mic and the quietest preamp I could get my hands on at the time. Given that I do sound related stuff full time, it's not a very fair comparrison though, because not everyone is going to have decent mics and audio interfaces at their disposal.

Having read the one customer review, I'm tempted to take a punt on it. Either my pervedar is acting up, or he's one of us :O

Hmmm, I do have a suitable wall too...

The wall listening device works great. However since it is a super sensitive microphone any movement from your hands is amplified to a point that your ears hurt. I find that I have to use something to prop it into place so that it doesn't move at all. Usually you hear white noise and you can definately hear your hotel neighbors talking, watching TV, and yes Even having Sex. However if you are anywhere near a wall outlet the microphone will pick up the electricity noise of 60HZ which is kind of an annoying buzzing sound. Another thing, if you are listening while it is plugged in charging you will hear the Transformer in the charger which is also annoying. Overall I am happy with my ear listening device, I use it as a listening device. When the fucking was taking place (their headboard shared the same wall with my headboard) it was really exciting, it felt like I was in the room with them, secretly beating off to their sounds of passionate sex. You can really hear the loud orgasms, and even the soft kissing, slapping and contained soft orgasms as well as sensual breathing.

Sweet! I trust you've got the necessary cables etc to hook it up to something that can record ready too Enigma?

The wall I'm curious about in my place is probably gonna be a no-go from what I'm reading here, the traffic noise would likely blot out any good stuff. Seems strange to me considering it's a contact mic, but who knows.

Yes, got the cable already to record on my IPod / iPhone, although TBH I'm not expecting to get much, one night away with the other half who doesn't approve  one night in a hotel mostly full of business people, and two nights in a hotel block booked by my company which could be interesting but more likely deathly boring...

Would this work for listening through the floor too? I'm pretty sure a cute couple just moved in below me this weekend and I'd very much like to listen to them. I'm assuming that 2nd story floors are built similarly to walls in that they have beams for support sandwiched between boards, and I'm also able to pull up the carpet in the corners of the room to get to the floorboard without doing any permanent damage, so in theory it seems like it should work, but I'd be very appreciative of any advice. Actually if anyone has any tips at all for listening to them please let me know. My current plan is to figure out a way to legally listen in on them, get the rig set up, and then leave for the weekend so they'll hopefully be less inhibited.

Edit: I just placed a pint glass to the exposed floor board and tried listening. It was muted, but I think they were in a different room and I definitely heard him say something and their door shut when she went outside. :) I'll try to listen tonight but laying on the floor like that is really uncomftorable

If there is a heating pipe thru from your apt to theirs , usually a small hole and u can catch sound thru that with carpet up

There is under the floorboard, but I'm pretty sure that would be illegal

Quick update. I bought a contact mic and its working well, although I nearly blew out my eardrums turning up the volume too quickly and it's very sensitive to any movement. From the bedroom floor I can hear her tv in the living room clearly and I've also set up a way to record it that seems to work pretty well. Only problem is that the boyfriend doesn't live with her and he just visits, but thats not a big deal

Edit: After testing it for a bit the mic picks up almost all the sounds in the room below provided her AC doesn't turn on, so I'm pretty happy with that. Only one of the outputs is stereo though, but I can hook up my recorder to that and listen through the recorder while its recording so thats no a big deal either. I've spent the last 30 minutes listening to her listen to classic rock and text on her cellphone and the mic picks up pretty much all of it. If you want to know what she looks like, shes tall, thin and pretty (her face reminds me a lot of Linda Cardellini). She also has large breasts for how thin she is. If you can't tell I'm really excited about this and since I'm not gonna tell my friends about this hobby I guess I'll tell yall

You can hear her texting, as in the keypad of her phone being pressed? Holy shit, this is going to be awesome!

Fingers and toes crossed here for you man...

It didn't pick up the keypad being pressed, just the phone vibrate whenever she would get a message so don't get your set your expectations too high. Also the mic is very sensitive so I'm still trying to figure out the best spots to record from and the best ways to keep from causing excess noise (last night I recorder part of her phone call and it picked up my breathing). Hopefully I'll have this all figured out by the time her boyfriend comes by again :)

listening through the floor is tricky. I found no luck with a tile or metal floors. Carpet isn't good either. It works better if you get down to the floorboard. I took my listening device on a trip recently and there was a couple next door. I listened in, I could here the guy typing on his keyboard and the girl talking to him from the bed. You can hear the bed springs too when they sit down on it. And you can hear the sounds of lips smacking when they kiss, as well as spanking, and even removal of clothes. I can only make out certain words when they talk. But thats okay because I am not interested in what they are talking about, thats eavsdropping, I am more interested in hearing them F*ck. It sounded like they were about to have sex, she let out two sensual moans when all of a sudden she yelled at him saying that she doesn't like that and that it hurt Im guessing he smacked her ass. Then they got into an argument that lasted the rest of the night. Unfortunately there was no makeup sex... Later on after the argument I heard the sounds of them snoring. So unfortunately I didn't hear anything. However I did notice that I could here someone else having sex for a brief moment, it was very faint and probably coming from a room down the hall on a different floor. Oh well. I guess you have to have perfect timing to catch a good f*cking.

Pbody, perhaps a longer lead from listening device to whatever you're using as a recorder? If you were to run it under the door to be in a different room for example, you wouldn't need to sit perfectly still monitoring for hours at a time.
