Has anyone ever tried listening through walls or floors or ceilings with a stethoscope? I have bought one from ebay for a couple of pounds, should it would I may hear some interesting things from my neighbours.
I just wanted to know any experiences with one in this way

I tried that, and they do work pretty well. I found that it was *too* sensitive to just hold it to the wall, so to eliminate the noise of your hand movement I'd recommend bringing along some tape to hold it in place and perfectly still. Also, pull up a chair and get comfortable...
Good luck!

I used a stetoscope at '90s, but it was hurts my ear, then I not heard about a week.
Then I cut it's tube and put into a condenser microphone capsule and I was fix it the memmbrane head onto the wall.
That was my first operation of a home made spy gadget.

I used a simply microphone capsule (I wrote earlier).
Plug in with 3.5 Jack's into my computer and I used "Free Sound Recorder" software.

I have used steths and steths with little mics. Amazing what you can do for a few bucks and a trek to wally world if the hunting looks good. However in my experience the problem with a steth is that they are designed for real low frequencies and the normal rumble of an industrial building can be very loud and overpowering.

Did you manage to make a recording with the help of a stethoscope? Faankly, I cannot imagine to make a decent recording with it.
