Recording on an iPod

I've been thinking about buying a digital voice recorder but have noticed that there are a number of iPod add-ons that appear to do the same job, for example
this one which is a much lower cost than a DV recorder.
Has anyone tried one of these or know how well they would suit 'our' purposes? I want to place it a few feet away from the bed ...

a friend of mine had this demoed for him at the big apple show in london a few months ago. he was up for buying one until his ipod met a premature and very unfortunate end.
I heard recordings made on the original italk, and they totally totally sucked. This looks much better though, and if you've got a few quid to take a bet it looks like a fairly safe one. Personally, I haven't at the mo, but if you end up getting one of these definitely let me know how you get on because it looks like an ideal way of getting rough recordings of gigs (the damn band are too loud for the mic on my cheapo iriver)
oh just one thing, you probably realised already but i don't think you can record and power your ipod from firewire/usb/mains at the same time, so depending on whether it has the ability to save a file before the battery dies it might cause problems.
good luck...

Thanks, that's a good catch on the issue of not being able to power it whilst recording. I'll have a think about this a bit more before I decide,

I actually have not tried it, but I am pretty sure on my touch v 4 I can record while it it plugged in, though last time I tried using it I just shoved it in a vent. The thing will record for longer than I need on a charge.
