MySQL error

During the last weeks, when visiting the community some of you might have come across an error message looking like this or similar:
chCounter: MySQL error!
Error number: 1194
Table 'chc_yorg_log_data' is marked as crashed and should be repaired
Script stopped.
What does this mean and should you do?
The forum software is based on a My SQL database where all entries are stored. Everytime a forum page is opened, the script retrieves the relevant information from this database. When the connection to the database is broken or the needed information cannot be found, an error message will be shown.
In the case above a second database caused the problem. CHC is a script for website statistics that stores numbers of visitors and a few additional information like referrers (links that brought you here).
Experience shows that most of the times, you only need to refresh your browser window once and the forum site appears. Sometimes it takes a little bit longer (wait a minute and refresh again).
As I cannot estimate how often an error like that happens, I would like to ask you for help. Please send a little note when you come across a similar error message and paste the message into it. If refreshing helps, you should use this thread for your note. In any other case, an email to yeppie -at- yeppie.org would be great.
Thanks
yeppie
