Madrid neighborhood courtyard

Hello, SSLovers!

I'm starting what I hope will be a series of posts about audio recordings of what can be heard from my building's courtyard. The conditions aren't ideal, due to the noise from pipes, several noises, traffic, etc., but it's an area I want to explore, and it's less risky than leaving recorders in the communal stairwell.

The weather is gradually getting better in Madrid, and I'm confident that one of the advantages of living in a working-class neighborhood is that not everyone has air conditioning, and windows will start opening at night as we approach summer.

This recording is from yesterday, around 2:00 AM. I left the recorder on one of my back windows all night, and I was able to listen to what I'm sharing with you. It sounds quite distant, and I don't even know if it's a couple from my building, but I think it's of sufficient quality to make something out. If there's one thing it certainly has, it's total authenticity, and it reflects what you might hear from a neighbor's courtyard.

I hope to be able to gather better quality recordings over time...

Oh, this is perfect. I love hearing the moans as a mix of nighttime background sounds. I just heard something similar earlier in the week, and I have been thinking about it non-stop since. Hopefully I will get the file up here soon.

Hey mate! Fo you still have those neighbours across the road?

They have moved out for the foreseeable future, but I'm hoping they move back one day. I do still have some of their sessions to share, just life has been very busy. However, I did just hear the new tenant the other night, and enjoyed listening on my porch. I eagerly hope for more! Next door is up on the market again, and hopefully whoever moves in is more active than the person who just moved out. A lot of young couples have been by for the tour, so I have my fingers crossed.

Thanks for the update, all sounds promising! I envy you. I heard almost nothing in the netherlands the last few years, but am moving to the US soon so I'm hoping circumstances will change!
