Best way to gather audio from outside a house

Hello everyone.

I’m looking to record audio in a bedroom but I do not have access to the house.

What is the best way to approach this? Both general strategy and equipment.

Risky buy I put a USB recorder in the letterbox surprising what it picks up but gets lots of outdoor noise
