Need help with Audio cleanup

Post by mass130 »

Hi All.

You guys are my last resort. I have recently captured an audio file where I believe my wife is masturbating, I dont have an issue with it, what i have an issue with is the possible name she said at the end when climaxing. I can almost make it but not 100% I have some background noise and she is on phone watching something random.
Any guidance on this would be great.

Thanks

Perhaps I can help you. In your case I presume you don't want to go very deep inton theory of audiocleaning. You want to push the sound of the voice. In free audio software like Reaper or Audacity you can do such by pushing the frequency's between 400 and 800 hrz. To lower background rumble you can use a highpass filter so the frequencies below 100 hrz are removed.
f course in this forum we can do this job for you, but only if you're feeling okay in sharing with us.

Perhaps ChatGPT can help you with the translation of the whispering. The tool whisper.ai can make a lot out of it. I use the plugins from Izotope RX 12 for spectral denoising Voice isolation.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have tried all AI tools and nothing works at the moment. I have tried different audio tools as well which sometimes have made me heard the whisper a little better but not enough to make it out totally.

Hi again. I really need this cleaned up as much as possible. Any help in that whispering right at beginning will be helpful.

I'm sorry for you.

I amplified and filtered the audio recording and also created a slowed-down version of the most relevant sections to make the whispered speech easier to distinguish.

My conclusion is that I cannot reliably identify a complete sentence or any clearly intelligible words. Most of the recording sounds like breathing, very faint broadband noise, and extremely soft vocal-like sounds.

I identified three possible whispering moments:

* Around **5.2–7.4 seconds**, there may be a short sound resembling *“sen…”*.
* Around **10–11.5 seconds**, I mainly hear what sounds like a sigh or exhalation, without any clearly recognisable words.
* Around **15.5–17 seconds**, there may be something resembling *“lin”* or *“lind”*.

However, my confidence in these interpretations is **very low**. These sounds could just as easily be patterns created by breathing, background noise, or the processing itself. I therefore would not regard them as a reliable transcription of spoken words.

The original recording is extremely quiet, with an average level of approximately **−70 dBFS**. To make the possible whispering audible, I substantially increased the gain and applied filtering. The disadvantage is that this also greatly increases the microphone and background noise.

I also isolated the three sections that appeared most likely to contain whispered speech and slowed them down by approximately 15%. Even after doing this, I was unable to identify any words with sufficient confidence.

My overall assessment is therefore that the recording may contain whispered vocal sounds, but the available signal is too weak and noisy to produce a dependable transcription. Further aggressive processing could actually be misleading, because noise can begin to resemble speech sounds when it is heavily amplified and filtered.

Hi again. I recorded this on Samung Tablet with Easy Voice Recorder pro. I have noticed with each tablet update there is a lot of distortion even though I have tried turning boost gain down. Is there any recommended recorder which can just be left in background without any notifications on locked screen. I dont know why the distortion has come about. I have attached another file, still trying to make out more whispers. This time there is washing machine in background!
Thanks
