Block of flats, recorded from outside

My first upload.

I lived with neighbours being loud and I liked it this is how I found this website. I wanted to find a way how to record them. Bought usb stick, but it was creating a lot of background noise and static. They moved out.

I bought a Sony recorder for £30. Painted it black
There is a block of flats near the place I live.

I saw a girl in the kitchen one evening, she lives on the ground floor. Dark hair, slim, late 20s.
I dropped it there in the grass one evening and collected in the morning. Wasn't sure if I can catch anything.
There is a lot of searching for a couple of minutes fun in 8hrs recording
It was worth it. It all started after 2am.

Window wasn't opened just a little, but it was enough to capture good sounds.

Tell me what you think about the quality. How can I improve it?
Any good USB sticks? I risk a lot leaving my £30 recorder :-p

You could still hear her moaning through the noise! He was giving it to her! I think if you can, you should try removing the noise so the recording is clearer.

Eow..beautiful recording and wonderful first post - welcome!! I love the quality and even the background noise - which by no means overpowers the couple and in fact adds reality. I could picture myself right there outside looking at that darkened window hearing their loving..

I'm thinking of doing similar recordings in a few areas during the summer, when people leave their windows
open. I've experienced overhearing sex sounds a few times in the early hours of the morning, during weekend
nights, in an area of the UK I was staying. I recall one road in particular that was quiet at night, which was
odd in the sense that it had council flat blocks on one side of the road (working class families), and
very middle class looking terraced housing on the other. I heard sounds from the council flats a few times,
but there was this one hot summer night (after 3am) when a woman in an upstairs apartment on the terraced
side was producing some nice sounds, e.g. moaning her boyfriend's name, loud gasps. I looked up and saw that
a window was fully open and a ceiling light was on, but I wasn't sure if the sounds were actually emanating from
that room.

I think areas worth targeting (in the UK) are the trendy kind where young, urban professionals live in old, rented
accommodation. This forum doesn't have category for 'random' recordings yet, i.e. the sounds you would overhear
when you walk down a road in another town or in another area of a town you live in. Mind you, it didn't have
an Outdoor Sex category either, until after I started posting these sounds.

It's becoming warm again, so I had to save what was worth to save and make some space on my recorder will try to capture something soon. There are at least 3 more nice couples living there.

Fab. Yes it startjng to be less cold at least and your situation sounds really promising. Good recording and very real btw. Quality was fine and i echo geckos comment earlier

I've got another one for you. Same couple. Unfortunately car parked next to my recorder and there was a lot of noise I had to remove (5min) which probably disturbed the foreplay :-/

Can anyone recommend any small recorders with good quality mics? I want to start recording again but my Sony is too big to use at the moment. Need to wait for some grass and weeds to grow near their windows then I can plant my recorder

There are plenty of recommendations for good recorders in the forum, especially gekko1 is an expert when it comes to using different kind of devices for different tasks, cheap usb sticks included.

Yeppie thanks, I'll try usb. Olympus looks good for indoor records but it is too expensive to leave it there overnight I'm using Sony icd series I think it's bx140. I wrapped it around with a black insulation tape, so it's less visible and kind of rainproof. I have to collect it before 7am in the morning to don't take risk of it being found.

I'm very happy with the mic quality and it's got noise filter etc.
For both recordings it was placed 2-3m from the window in the grass. And their window was just 4-5cm open.

Jeremy, it looks like they start late night, it was nearly 3am both recordings. I placed recorder at 10pm so quite a lot of listening before i got this
