simply plug a decent-ish mic into it and off you go. then i guess it's simply a case of hooking the reciever up to your microphone line-in on your PC and use whatever software to perpetually record?
any flaws in my plan?

There are two problems with wireless transmission, the possibilities of interference and interception. Interference would hopefully be minimal and acceptable. Interception depends on where you are using it and can the interceptor track you down? When I had my noisy neighbors in a nearby duplex, I once stuck a baby monitor in the window of my computer room, which was the closest window to them. I figured I could leave the speaker unit next to my bed while I slept and maybe the sound would wake me when the action started in the middle of the night and I could get up and start the recorder. I did this a few times until one night I woke up hearing the sound of someone tapping on the window! I didn't want to show myself, so I never figured out who it was. But I'm sure someone (maybe the couple in question) had intercepted the wireless signal and, using their own monitor (quite probably another baby monitor) walked around making noises until the noise started coming out of their own speaker and tracked down the source of the mic.
No one ever bothered me about it, but I have only rarely attempted it again since.

but it is a 2.4ghz transmitter and receiver pair. it won't be used outside of my home, so i reckon it is pretty safe.
not sure what security there is though - there is possibility that someone else with a similar receiver could pick it up, but being 2.4ghz i reckon that is slim.
