Camping near Lands End 2

In the thread asking about when I first became an aural pervert, I mentioned three very different camping experiences and described the first that happened in The Lakes. I’ve posted a description of the second experience and will now describe the third. Like the second it was on the same campsite not far from Lands End, but on a different visit. Like both the others it was a long time ago, but unlike them I did record it!

Before anyone starts to imagine a great full on sex session the recording makes it evident there was sex, but the two involved were trying very hard to be quiet. I didn’t even realise there was any sex until I was reviewing some old cassettes the other week. Initially I thought the cassette was blank because it seemed like tape hiss, but then I heard some noises and realised the recording level must have been very low. I then enhanced the volume and at first was completely baffled by what I was listening too. After a while though, I realised it was from the campsite, so temporarily enhanced it as well as I could and started listening. There’s a total of just over 60 mins (45 on one side and 18 on the other) so a little bit is missing as I turned the tape over. If it’s of any interest I was using what was a great little device for it’s day, a Sony Walkman recorder with a small but good quality stereo mic.

The actual couple were two German girls, probably in their early to mid-twenties. One was a bit plain, but the other was quite attractive and they were both friendly. We had quite a few conversations over a few days, but communication was a problem, as my German skills are nil and their English wasn’t very good. What aroused my interest was that several times they brought up the subject of Gays and I started to wonder if they were probing for any homophobic attitudes on my part. Because of the references I wondered if they had any lesbian tendencies and decided to listen in that night. They were in quite a large frame tent not too far from my small tent. After they had gone to bed I left the mic right by their tent with an extension lead and sat in the entrance of my tent, recording with headphones on. Recording conditions weren’t good as there was a lot of wind noise, plus other campers and sounds of the country too.

At the time it was hard to work out what all the sounds were, but I can remember that some sounds did seem to sound like sex ones, although I wasn’t totally sure. I now know that some of the sex sounds I thought I heard were my overactive imagination, but some were actual sex activity between the two girls. As they were obviously trying to be very quiet though, it took some working out. For some reason I must have forgotten about the tape and only listened again a couple of weeks ago. I did quickly enhance a version to try and make sense of all the sounds, but it was quite frustrating, as I wasn’t sure what was imagination and what was the girls.

What I’m pretty sure is a basic summary of the 60+ minutes is as follows.

0-10 MINUTES: There was some low level talking, some clear coughing, some moving and maybe what I call some ‘ips’. The best way I can try to describe ‘ips’ is the small wet sound it makes when you open and close wet lips. To me an ‘ip’ might be sexual, might be a kiss, or might be a tape click! Near the end of the first 10 mins I think there might have been a faint kiss.

10-16 MINUTES: Quite a bit of what sounded like moving and brief low vocals.

16-18 MINUTES: Some coughs but also what I can only describe as more interesting sounds, with moves and a whisper.

18-21: Starts with sounds of materials moving or rubbing. Lots of moves, some possible ‘ips’ and finishes with a quick gasp I think.

21-30: Lots of move sounds, some material sounds and possible ‘ips’ . Campsite sounds too.

30-37: I was getting more convinced by now but nothing was absolutely certain. Some vocals (but in German), lots of moving, possible breath sounds and ips. Maybe an “Oh” near the end.

37-39: Pretty sure as I can be someone was getting ‘close’ but also trying to stay quiet. Some louder vocals, some whispers. Last definite gasp at 37.30 until maybe a ‘thank you’ kiss at 28.15.

39-64: I can’t be sure but think any sex was over. Quite a few voices and whispers, but all in German. Zips at one point as I assume one of the girls went to the loo, but I can’t remember if I saw, although I was there. Might have been some stuff but too indistinct if there was.

Although I’m sure there was some sex, I’m not sure if any of the actual recording qualifies for the sex sounds section as they were trying to be very quiet and the recording conditions were difficult. If anyone thinks any parts might be worth posting I’m happy to sort them out, but it might take a short while.

Would love to hear the full recording, and would love to see if I can clear up the recording. Would you post it? I would love to see what I can do with it, might be able to make out a lot more sounds

I'll be happy to oblige Bootown, or anyone else with the original and if anything can be done it will be great. As it was about 18 mins of recording before I was able to detect anything obvious, I would love to know if there was anything happening before this. I would also be interested to know what they were saying when they can be heard speaking or whispering, so if there are any linguists with German skills in the community, maybe they can help?

I can obviously cut it into shorter sections and also compress it to post but if I did that, would the compression make it more difficult to clean up? I personally think it would, but maybe it's not critical! Any suggestions for the best way would be appreciated.

Do remember the original level is very low and there's a lot of background noise. What I've done so far is remove all the nasty peaks (only fractions of seconds so it doesn't notice) and even out the amplitude in the first 45 mins. It was obvious from seeing the wave on the screen that I must have increased the input volume twice while originally recording and listening. This would be best for anyone who wanted to work from the start, as nothing is missing.

I will have a go at cleaning it up myself as well and post some bits of that too. All comments and suggestions welcome

I´d suggest to compress it to 256kb mp3 and give it a try. As you keep the original there is no risk but the file can be sent or uploaded easily. The result should be around 130mb, divided with 7zip you could upload it here and let the community work on it.

if there are any linguists with German skills in the community, maybe they can help?

Thanks to yeppie for the suggestion. I have converted the two files to mp3s, but am a bit busy, so haven't got round to trying to splitting them yet. As a starting point I have uploaded both files to Hotfile for anyone who finds that any use. I tried uploading the wav files but Google Chrome kept crashing out and Explorer wouldn't even start the upload. I will try again later.

In the meantime here are the URLs for the mp3s on Hotfile. The first is the first 45 mins and includes the only evidence of sex I heard.

The second is a bit clearer, as they weren't trying to be so quiet and it's easier to hear what they're saying. If you speak German that is. It's just under 20 mins.

Theses are the files after I removed the peaks and evened out the amplitude on Side A. I initially listened to them by normalising and then using a graphic equalizer to remove all frequencies below 250Hz. A bit crude, but it did okay for a start. When I get round to it properly I intend to clean them up using a spectral view. I will post when I do, but don't hold your breath for that.

As I said, I will get round to splitting the mp3s and will also try again to upload the wav files to Hotfile. Any tips about what might be going wrong would be appreciated.

I've been a bit busy, but discovered that Hotfile had a tool for uploads and downloads, so tried to use that for uploading the original wav files. It seemed to work for both parts, although it did take quite a long time. So far I haven't been given a URL for Side A, but here's the one for the shorter Side B.

It is 403.75MB, so be warned that if you want to download, it will take some time. As soon as I get a URL for Side A I'll post it. Apologies to those who don't like, or can't access Hotfile, but at least this way I'm not using server space belonging to the community and it does provide possible access to the originals for cleaning up purposes.

I will get round to splitting the the mp3 and will post the parts here if that's okay. When I do get round to cleaning up the original, I'll post any relevant parts of it in the Outdoor section.

Fantastic, I loved it and can't wait to hear more. I couldn't help dreading that I might hear something like; "I wonder if that perv in the next tent is trying to listen?" or even worse!

I still haven't created a link to the larger wav file as Hotfile is proving a pain, but I'll try again after I've re-booted the comp.

I have split the mp3s with jZip and the largest file is 16MB. Is this too big? The next option down was something like 2.5MB parts. If 16MB is okay where shall I upload them too? There are six parts for Side A and three for Side B. You mentioned 7zip, is this more flexible and does it cost?

Thanks again for the translation. I wonder how much more will be revealed over coming days. I'm going to try and find time to clean it up this weekend. When I do I'll try to isolate the whispers and vocals, so I can increase just their volume using Spectral View.

I say original, but I did even out the amplitude as it was recorded at three different input level and I also removed the noisier peaks.

Hope the moving is going well and when you do get round to it, I'd love to hear the results of any cleaning work. Also, when you have time, I'd be grateful for any tips or suggestions you have on how I tried to clean/enhance it. I decided to keep notes, so I could review them and remember what I'd done.
