About a month ago my wife and I flew down to one of our seaside cities for a few days vacation. We stayed near the airport in one of those Road/City Lodge hotels for a few nights.
Wonderful, thought I, I'll be able to hear some interesting sounds here. Even better, was the discovery that our room had an inter-leading door to the next room, so only the wood separated the two rooms.
Now these lodges are built to a simple plan: three stories of identical rectangular rooms, in long straight rows; each floor being a copy of the floor below [with slight exception for the ground floor - reception and dining area]. No lift, but two staircases serving between floors.
So, did I get to hear anything interesting and (s)exciting?
NO! Why? Well at that time, the hotel was almost filled by teenage girls from various schools, who were on tour. All one could hear through the inter-leading door of our room was talking and giggles, which kept us awake until late.
Then, 'prowling' the corridors was an issue, as they were dead straight, with clear visibility from one end to the other. Further, the staircases were not situated at the end of each corridor, but about a quarter-way in, so past the staircases there was no place to hide, one was 'caught', trapped like a rabbit in the glare of a car's headlights.
Compounding these problems was the fact that each door had one of those very efficient 180 degree 'spy' viewers, so flattening oneself against the wall on either side of the door was also virtually impossible.
So, my stay was a complete failure from the ssl standpoint, which is why I salute those of this website who manage to capture the very essence of this website.
It is not easy!
