Recorder delete the first hours of the recording.

Post by 87warthunder87 »

Something fucked up with my recorder.
I should have got like 12 hours recording last night but it seem like it just deleted the first 8 hours and start the recording from the middle.
Anyone had that problem ?

i have a simple usb recorder.

I had a similar problem once but it wasn´t the recorder - when I opened a very long recording for editing in Adobe Audition, it showed only 90 minutes or so although the file should have been 8 hours long. As the file size indicated that the recording must be much longer than 90 minutes, I split the file using mp3 splitter and voila: 8 hours in total.
So one little chance is, that it is not the recorder but that your software isn´t capable of loading long files, too?

In my pro version it does ... but you don´t try to handle an 8 hour wav file, don´t you? :o

Btw now that I watch it, the size of the file is the size of an 4 hour recording, so I still think my recorder is the problem :<

I didn´t want to convince you of the opposite ;-)
I own and use different recorders, some record in wav format, some mp3.

Those still in use are 2 USB flash-drive recorders (recording in wav format) and my best one ever is an Olympus LS-5 (recording in whatever mode I set it up, usually mp3 256 kbps). There are similar and newer Olympus recorders available (at amazon for example).

I think I found what is wrong with my usb recorder.
After 8 hours he start deleting the beginning of the recording.
So, lets say I recorder for 10 hours, I will only have the last 2 hours.
Shame ...
Putting the usb in the room and I usualy go after 10-12 hours to pick it up :(.
will have to buy a new one.
