2020
Does anyone else share my suspicion with COVID-19, 2020 may be a quiet year for hotels?
While there'll always be business travelers, I'm fearing hookup/ date stays may dry up with people fearing exposure to virus left on surfaces by former guests.
Hopefully if that happens, the Neighbors and Outdoor folks will step up and carry things.

Re: 2020
This is probably a fair suspicion, but I think it is not that dramatic.
People who have their holiday journey already booked cannot simply cancel as long as there is no official travel warning released. Even for Tenerife there is not such an official warning, even though its quite present in the media here in Europe. Couples who just want to have a place for "celebrating" their date also need to go somewhere. If the hotels have a decline in guests they will probably adapt their rates to become attractive again at lower price. In addition I think the virus will fade out from the news in the next 2-3 months when it has reached every continent, people develop immune responses, a vaccination might be available next year, and soon it will be not so much more presence in the media as with the usual influenza virus.
But I definitely agree, Neighbors and Outdoor folks will hopefully compensate

https://www.globalresearch.ca/coronavir ... ca/5706272"Let’s be clear: The coronavirus pandemic is not the “cause” of this unfolding economic and social crisis.
It is the “pretext” for the implementation of a carefully designed “operation” (supported by media
disinformation) which destabilizes national economies, impoverishes large sectors of the World
population and literally undermines the lives of millions of people. What we are dealing with
is “An Act of War”."

Well this situation has changed pretty quickly.
Hotel industry is dried out.
That being said, consider that everyone is staying at home, so this should be a be a high time our our neighbours lol
i predict a massive baby boom after 9 months

Looks like you're right, physicist & gekko1.
Coronavirus cruise ship quarantine supercharged our sex lives: couple
Self isolation sex toy sales rise during coronavirus
Sex toy sales triple during New Zealand's coronavirus lockdown (added)
As for myself, I've never been so busy - at work, that is. I have to work overtime!
I noticed a big pallet yesterday containing just antiseptic wipes destined for a single residential address.
I did the arithmetic - that person ordered a grand total of 101,250 individual wipes - WTF?! Profiteering??

* bulk-buying of nitrile gloves
* a rise in sales of electronics goods (due to people anticipating price hikes)
* increased sales of home weight-training gear (dumbbells and barbells) due to people anticipating gym closures
I haven't looked at any sales figures, BTW. It's just conjecture based on quantities of goods I see at work.

Re: 2020
The situation is really bad in Europe with significantly fewer hotel guests. Most of my plans have been scrapped or postponed, including a wedding. I hope that my booked holiday in June can still go ahead. Sorry, but corridor hunting is on hold for now.
